1 hr sea swim... disaster struck!
Tried to do a sea swim this weekend - sea was very rough, very large swells...sometimes breaking. Graham supported me, 1 hour into swim, a big wave capsized his kayak. We had to swim the barely floating kayak + kit about 1/4 mile to shore - was very hard work...and a little edgy!

3 hr Sea swim
I did a 3 hour sea swim with Snowy this weekend - felt strong. Sea was rough - blowing force 5, lots of white horses.
Tide turned on us and we were caught 6 miles from starting point and being dragged out to sea - managed to fight our way back to the coast and landed on a beach. Spent the next hour trying to convince someone to give me a lift (was wearing speedo + goggles) to get back to my car!

Illness
Frustratingly I have been ill for most of June - a chest infection I think that was caused by dirty water during my lake swims.
2 weeks of antibiotics and doctors orders not to swim... felling better now.

3 Hour swim
Following a chat to Mark Robson I did a 3 hr cold water swim this weekend. It went well with only a little chaffing.

Getting fitter and faster
Did a PB this evening. 17:50 for 1km.
Drank a pint of strong PSP22 before hand and ate a chicken kebab + couscous. About 1.5 hour before.

swam 2 hours open water
did a 2 hr open water swim @ mytchett with wetsuit
was not cold overall.
tried without wetsuit...not as bad as i thought, cld have lasted maybe 2km
in terms of feeding, i has oats 1 hr before swim and did not get hungry at all during swim.
vaseline in armpits completely stopped chaffing.
swam slow swim, 5km in 2 hrs.
